"Working Together for a Better Tomorrow"

The Building of A Community Complex

Cornerstones of the Complex

There are key elements that are necessary for any healthy community to thrive. The Prince of Wales Cultural and Recreation Centre will encompass the following elements: Education, Recreation, The Arts, Entertainment, Business, Service Clubs and the Efficiency of Co-operation. With several major organizations preparing plans for new structures, the opportunity existed for them to work together on one joint project that could include facilities that may not otherwise have been cost effective to build on their own. Construction on the Complex commenced on April 27, 2001. Our new facility should be finished in early 2003.

Facts and Figures

The Complex cost is $5,500,000.00 furnished. Over $4,300,000.00 has been raised and committed to the project to the end of November 2002.

Construction and Operating Costs

All of the capital cost for the complex has been or will be raised by the C.I.A. The Prince of Wales Cultural and Recreation Centre will be self-sustaining, with a Capital Reserve Fund of $200,000.00 to cover any operating losses incurred after the centre is operational. To maintain this fund, fundraising activities will continue for as long as is required. An elected Board will oversee the operation and management of the facility. The Centre is located in downtown Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, just west of the Asaskan Complex (the Town Office).
